Lawton Family Portrait Session

Susan, Susannah and I took some time to go North and visit our family in Minnesota and Wisconsin during the Labor Day weekend, and during that time, the Lawton family and I had some boot-skootin’, spur-shakin’, thigh-smackin’ fun!

We got some fun shots of the family all dressed up in their best country-western-otherwise regalia. The otherwise is for Kaleb who decided to go half matrix, half tombstone on us…:)

Nancy was radiant and Biggie was overwhelmed with emotion. As she wiped away the happy tears from his eyes during the ceremony, I knew they were going to be happy for a long, long time.

Biggie(Karlton) had waited for Nancy to finish her schooling. Eight long years, and the day was finally here. And what a day it was.

They got married off of 47th St down on the Virginia Beach oceanfront, a first for me actually covering a wedding directly on the beach front.

After the ceremony, all the guests picked up one of the shells provided for them, and they all went down to throw them into the ocean with Nancy and Karlton. This was part of the Hawaiian traditions that ran throughout the ceremony.

We then left the oceanfront and went to the Lighthouse on the Cove, situated off of Linkhorn Bay and Laskin Rd, for the reception.

I enjoyed myself with family and friends alike that night. One of the guests even took my camera away from me and got a couple shots of me dancing. Don’t worry, I won’t torture you with those pictures…:)

Well, actually, they live in Germany, but they came home to spend time with family, have an official wedding ceremony, and renew their vows to each other.
I had so much fun with both them and their family and friends, and I am grateful they chose me as their Hampton Wedding Photographer.

Resource of the Week!

I had the pleasure of working with Kim Wyckoff of MLM Events back in July during the awesome wedding of Sarah and Lorenzo (Hi Sarah and Lorenzo!), and I just found out that she recommended me in her weekly e-blast as her chosen Resource of the Week!

Very cool…and thank you, Kim! Below is the e-blast she sent with the exception of the image.
I substituted one of the images I captured during Sarah and Lorenzo’s wedding:

Ryan and Nicole, August 8, 2009: Virginia Beach, VA

The sun shone through a haze of clouds on the day of Ryan and Nicole’s wedding, and it was perfect for photography. It was the big diffuser in the sky!

I had a wonderful time with this young couple and their family and friends.

The father of the groom is the Superintendent of Battlefield Golf Club, and so they made arrangements to have their wedding ceremony at the Cypress Point Country Club.

A great time was had by all, and I was blessed to have been chosen by Nicole and Ryan to take their wedding pictures.

Thanks so much to both of you, and I wish for you all the best life has to offer!

Sarah and Andrew, July 22, 2009: Chesapeake, VA Wedding

This was a unique situation, but I love unique.

John Cachero, a fellow wedding, portrait, and special event photographer here in the Hampton Roads area, got an email from Andrew, a Navy man, this past Tuesday, June 21, asking about his services.

John was not able to cover the wedding because of a scheduling conflict, and so he sent the information over to me.

Sounded like fun!

I called Andrew, got some basic information from him, and last evening we all met beside the Chesapeake City Court House with Marriage Commissioner Michael Brown presiding.

The wedding ceremony was just the four of us, but the love Andrew and Sarah had for each other radiated.

There was no questioning their love for one another.

Enjoy the beautiful images of Sarah and Andrew as they pledged their love one to another last night.

What a day! The sun was out with just enough cloud cover to make the day truly enjoyable, and Sarah and Lorenzo’s outdoor wedding went without a hitch.

I truly enjoyed spending most of last Saturday with Sarah and Lorenzo and their family, friends and bridal party.

They got married at the Williamsburg Lodge in Williamsburg, VA, behind the fountain garden, and they held their reception at the Colony room. The dinner was fabulous and the venue was enjoyed by all.

I want to thank the Williamsburg Lodge, and I also want to thank Kim Wyckoff of MLM Events for keeping things running smoothly.

Here is a sneak peak of some of the shots Charles and I captured that day:

Commercial Photography in Hampton Roads, VA

I recently had the opportunity to work with a wonderful team of individuals from Homes.com.

They asked if I could get some shots for one of their websites, and I quickly jumped at the chance.

I love to stretch my photographic wings and do different things, and this was a fun session.

Below are a few of the shots we got from the commercial photography shoot in Norfolk we got.

Real Estate Photography, Virginia Beach

Aside from my main photography, Wedding Photography, I shoot other types of work. One of those other types is real estate. I had been working for homes.com, and they needed some professional shots of local properties in the area. I enjoyed the change of pace traveling throughout the seven cities of Hampton Roads to get some really great shots.

These are three examples:

As I captured the ceremony of Philip and Thea, I was wondering if Philip was going to smile at his lovely bride, but then I realized the situation: he was just trying to hold it together!

Wow, that was me on my wedding day too!

He started to speak his vows, but he couldn’t hold back the tears any longer.

Of course, that got Thea crying as well, and just about everyone else at the wedding.

Because of those tears shed for each other, Philip and Thea’s wedding day was perfect, and I couldn’t have been happier to cover it in beautiful photographs.

The couple married at Arnold Palmer’s Signature at West Neck in Virginia Beach, and the reception was held at the Chesapeake Conference Center, located in Chesapeake.

Congratulations, Philip and Thea!
